Final

For the final project, I decided to do a video game commentary of me playing my friend Darryn Jordan in Madden 20. Some of the things that will be used in order to create this video are a podcast app called Podcast Studio by Spreaker, my PS4’s Capture Gallery features, as well as YouTube to upload it. The production plan was simpler than I thought it would be, I decided that it would feel more real and organic if I was to do a game commentary about something that I knew well. With that being my idea, I decided playing Madden would be the best. I had us both use teams that we’re familiar with so that we can speak about players and talk football like your typical fans would. By us both using teams that we know well, we’d be able to have a genuine conversation about the players we were using, as well as other things going on football related. In terms of how I sectioned out the schedule myself, I made it in a way that would work regardless of any classes we might have had. I decided that for the first few days, I would decide what topic I wanted to talk about for the video. This of course ended up becoming just a genuine one on one about football and our opinions. Secondly, I decided what would be a proper time in order to get together and record the gameplay. I figured that a weekend would be best since we typically get our work done during the weekdays, and the weekends are available for whatever you want. So the day decided was Sunday after all of our Mother’s Day duties were finished. The third part of the plan was to then figure out how we were to get our commentary recorded effectively. I came across this iPhone app called “Spreaker” and it was the perfect one for the job. We were able to just hit the record button and speak like we were having a normal conversation. Once we were finished, I was able to upload the audio and add it to match with the gameplay and the video was then created. Along with the help of Premiere Rush, I was able to cut the video to a shorter time frame, whereas it was over 20 minutes long at the start. I believe the process was effective in making me come up with something creative, as well as using skills that I have obtained from this class in order for it to come out good. I believe that I did a solid job in creating what I planned on making. One of the things I truly pleased with is how smooth the recording went. I was worried at first that there would be some hiccups involved that would cause me to have to switch up my plans. Although I was able to get everything working smoothly without any worries. This assignment was a great way of forcing me to show that I have picked up some skills from this class, and it’s something I think will stick with me for a while. After completing this assignment, I actually realized how much I enjoy something like game commentaries, so maybe there’s a future there!

Enjoy!
